English for Academic Purposes (EAP) is designed for students wanting to improve their English as part of their academic course or while studying on a pre-university English programme, in order to achieve the entry standards required for their course. The areas covered include:
- Academic style and use of the ‘passive voice’
- Essay writing and structure
- Research techniques and quality of information
- Note-taking
- Presentation skills.
With this programme, you will become more confident in communicating in everyday life as well as in a professional or university context. The course uses academic materials in the areas of Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening and enhances the students’ academic vocabulary. The materials are included in the course fee.

The Academic module is normally for people who want to study an undergraduate or postgraduate degree course or who wish to register with a professional body.
The General Training module focuses on basic survival skills in a broader social and educational setting. General Training is suitable if you migrate or if are joining a training programme or doing work experience in English speaking countries. It is not designed for degree level.
